The GenieClip RST Soundproof System is a cutting-edge solution for effective noise isolation in walls and ceilings. Engineered to deliver market-leading acoustic performance, this versatile product is designed to meet the demands of modern soundproofing in residential, commercial, and specialist environments. Whether you’re dealing with impact noise, airborne sound, or low-frequency vibrations, the GenieClip system provides unparalleled results. With minimal depth gain of just 41mm, it’s the perfect choice for projects requiring exceptional noise control without compromising on space.

Trusted by soundproofing professionals and DIY enthusiasts alike, the GenieClip RST sets the standard for simplicity, reliability, and effectiveness in noise reduction.

What is the GenieClip?

The GenieClip RST is an innovative acoustic isolation clip designed to decouple drywall from structural elements such as walls and ceilings. Its primary function is to block the transmission of noise and vibration, offering a highly effective alternative to traditional resilient bars. Constructed from a combination of moulded rubber and galvanised steel, the GenieClip is a robust and durable solution for long-term soundproofing.

This one-component system excels in isolating sound across a wide frequency range, making it suitable for both residential and commercial applications. Its compact design ensures easy installation, while its superior performance ensures it outshines other noise isolation methods, particularly for low-frequency sounds.

GenieClip Versus Resilient Bars

When comparing the GenieClip to traditional resilient bars, the advantages are clear:

  1. Enhanced Performance:
    • GenieClips reduce noise transmission by 6-7 dB more than resilient bars, particularly in challenging low-frequency ranges. This can mean the difference between acceptable soundproofing and complete noise control.
    • Their design excels at isolating impact noise, airborne sound, and structure-borne vibrations, offering all-round superior performance.
  2. Error Tolerance:
    • Resilient bars are highly sensitive to installation errors such as short-circuiting (direct contact between the bar and structural elements). GenieClips eliminate this risk, ensuring consistent and reliable results.
  3. Durability:
    • Resilient bars can degrade over time, losing their effectiveness. The robust rubber and steel construction of GenieClips ensures long-lasting performance.
  4. Space Efficiency:
    • Adding only 41mm to wall or ceiling depth, GenieClips are ideal for projects where space is limited, providing high acoustic performance in a compact design.

The GenieClip system is a superior alternative to the conventional resilient bar system producing better performance and is far less prone to fitting error. In fact its virtually impossible to fit incorrectly.

It significantly improves low frequency sound control performance and this is often the hardest frequency to cope with. Of all the resilient solutions that fix direct to joist it offers the best performance.

How Does the GenieClip Work?

The GenieClip RST operates on principles of decoupling and dampening:

  1. Decoupling:
    • GenieClips separate the drywall layer from the structural framework, breaking the direct path through which sound and vibrations typically travel.
  2. Vibration Absorption:
    • The moulded rubber within the clip absorbs vibrations, converting sound energy into negligible heat. This effectively dampens noise and prevents it from passing through walls and ceilings.
  3. Spring-Like Action:
    • The clip’s unique design functions like a spring, isolating and reducing vibrations across a wide range of frequencies. This makes it particularly effective for low-frequency sounds such as bass, which are notoriously difficult to manage.

How Effective is the GenieClip System at Stopping Nuisance Noise?

Do GenieClips Work? Absolutely. The GenieClip system is a proven soundproofing solution that delivers exceptional results:

  • Airborne Noise Reduction:
    • Provides an average noise reduction of up to 65 dB in walls and 55 dB in ceilings. This makes it ideal for reducing voices, television noise, and general background sounds.
  • Impact Noise Reduction:
    • Excels at isolating impact noise such as footsteps, providing up to a 20 dB improvement in sound insulation.
  • Low-Frequency Noise:
    • Particularly effective at isolating low-frequency sounds like bass, which are often the most disruptive and hardest to manage.

This level of performance makes GenieClips a go-to solution for creating quieter, more comfortable spaces in homes, offices, and specialist environments like studios and cinemas.

Where Can the GenieClip System Be Used?

The GenieClip system is highly versatile and suitable for a wide range of applications:

  • Residential Properties: Bedrooms, home offices, home theatres, and shared walls in apartments.
  • Commercial Spaces: Offices, boardrooms, coworking spaces, and retail stores.
  • Specialist Environments: Recording studios, music rooms, drum rooms, home cinemas, and rehearsal spaces.
  • Multi-Tenant Buildings: Hotels, apartment blocks, and dormitories.

Its compact design and high performance make it particularly well-suited for environments where space and sound control are equally important.

How to Install the GenieClip with Furring Strips

Installing the GenieClip system is straightforward and accessible to both professionals and DIY users:

  1. Prepare the Surface:
    • Ensure the wall studs or ceiling joists are clean and free from debris.
  2. Attach the GenieClips:
    • Secure the clips directly to the studs or joists using a single screw. Follow the manufacturer’s guidelines for spacing.
  3. Install Furring Strips:
    • Attach compatible furring strips to the GenieClips, ensuring they are level and securely fastened. These strips provide a mounting surface for the drywall.
  4. Fix the Drywall:
    • Attach drywall panels to the furring strips, leaving a small gap at the edges to prevent sound bridging.
  5. Seal the Edges:
    • Use acoustic sealant to fill gaps around the edges and ensure airtight sound isolation.
  6. Finishing:
    • Apply joint compound and paint as desired for a finished look.

Fantastic customer service

Fantastic customer service. SoundStop were very helpful both before and after my purchase. They patiently answered all my questions when I was deciding what solution would be best for my ceiling. Then, when my builders had questions about installation, SoundStop provided outstanding support. We have yet to test the system as we are still mid-refurbishment, but I have every confidence it will make a big difference especially as we received so much advice re: correct installation. The website is also incredibly helpful. I particularly liked the area calculators that helped me quickly work out how much each system would cost in my rooms.

Ceiling Installation - very straightforward

I installed a full sound proof solution including Genie clips, furring channels, Rockwool, 19mm Plank, Tecsound 50 and 12.5mm Soundbloc onto a ceiling. The Genie clips and furring channels were good quality easy to fit. Although the room is not yet finished I can already notice the benefit in terms of noise reduction.Jim at Soundstop was very helpful and I will be back again when the time comes for doing the next room.

Happy with the End result

I contacted Soundstop with a problem. We had what i believed to be a sixties type build. It was the honeycomb type block work. However I had less than 20mm to work with due to door frames. Soundstop provided the Tecsound and 1 layer of plasterboard. We were warned that one layer just might not be enough. The work was done and we believe its done a pretty good job. Before we could here talking easily and sneezing. However now we don't really hear the talking and the only thing we hear is a much more distant and muffled cough. The company managed our expectation well and we will continue in another room with this system.

Slim Line OK

I found it hard to actually find this solution online. The goods turned up on time and in Ok shape. We managed to do the small area we wanted to do in a day. I would say the results are OK. But we were warned that this was an untried solution. I dont have much experience of soundproofing so not sure what to compare it with.

Great result

We had been told that using a resileint bar direct to the wall would not produce the reulte we might be hoping for. However we did not have much space to play with. We ended up using just one layer of the 15mm soundproof plasterboard. The clips were very qucik to fit and the job took just over a day. The electrics were fiddly though. The end result was good we can still get louder noises coming through faintly but for a quick fix DIY Job i was pleased
