  • Metal channel for use with the GenieClip system

  • Ideal for soundproofing ceilings and walls with only 41mm depth gain

  • Easy to install and world-class performance

The furring strip is designed specifically to be used with the GenieClip to provide a system which is both economical and gives highly effective sound attenuation.

The GenieClip with Furring Strips system is a high-performance soundproofing solution designed to provide exceptional noise isolation for walls and ceilings. Engineered specifically to work with the GenieClip family of products, these furring strips are an integral part of a complete soundproofing system. With a sleek 41mm depth gain, the system ensures effective sound attenuation without sacrificing valuable space, making it ideal for a wide range of applications.

When combined with GenieClips, the furring strips create a durable and efficient framework for securing acoustic plasterboards. This seamless integration results in superior soundproofing performance, surpassing traditional resilient bar systems.

What is the GenieClip with Furring Strips?

The GenieClip with Furring Strips is a purpose-built soundproofing solution that utilises moulded rubber isolation clips (GenieClips) in combination with specially designed furring channels. Together, they form a resilient framework for attaching acoustic plasterboard to walls or ceilings, effectively isolating noise and vibrations.

Key Features:

  • Custom Design: Specifically manufactured to fit GenieClip systems, ensuring maximum performance.
  • Versatility: Compatible with GenieClip RST, LB2, and LB3 systems, allowing flexibility across different installations.
  • Ease of Installation: Streamlined design for quick and straightforward installation.
  • Durability: Made from high-quality materials, ensuring long-lasting performance in various environments.

GenieClip with Furring Strips Versus Resilient Bars

The GenieClip with Furring Strips system offers significant advantages over traditional resilient bars:

  1. Superior Noise Isolation:
    • The GenieClip system reduces noise transmission by 6-7 dB more than resilient bars, providing a noticeable improvement in soundproofing.
  2. Error Tolerance:
    • Resilient bars are prone to installation errors such as short-circuiting, which can significantly diminish their effectiveness. The GenieClip system eliminates this risk, ensuring consistent performance.
  3. Durability and Stability:
    • Unlike resilient bars, the GenieClip system maintains its structural integrity over time, providing reliable long-term soundproofing.
  4. Custom Fit:
    • The furring strips are specifically designed to work with GenieClips, ensuring a snug and effective fit that prevents bridging or sound leaks.
  5. Space Efficiency:
    • With only 41mm depth gain, the GenieClip system is ideal for projects where space is limited, offering high performance without compromising room dimensions.

The GenieClip system is a superior alternative to the conventional resilient bar system producing better performance and is far less prone to fitting error. In fact its virtually impossible to fit incorrectly.

It significantly improves low frequency sound control performance and this is often the hardest frequency to cope with. Of all the resilient solutions that fix direct to joist it offers the best performance.

How Does the GenieClip with Furring Strips Work?

The system works by creating a decoupled framework that isolates the plasterboard from the structural elements of the building. Here’s how it operates:

  1. Decoupling:
    • GenieClips attach to joists or wall studs, creating a break in the sound transmission path.
  2. Dampening Vibrations:
    • The moulded rubber component of the GenieClip absorbs vibrations, converting them into negligible heat energy.
  3. Furring Strips:
    • These metal channels bridge the GenieClips, forming a stable base for attaching plasterboard.
  4. Plasterboard Installation:
    • Acoustic plasterboards are secured to the furring strips, completing the soundproofing system and further isolating sound and vibrations.

How Effective is the GenieClip with Furring Strips System at Stopping Nuisance Noise?

Do GenieClips Work? Yes, the GenieClip with Furring Strips system is one of the most effective solutions for reducing noise transmission. Here’s why:

  • Airborne Noise Reduction:
    • Blocks up to 65 dB of airborne noise in walls and 55 dB in ceilings, effectively eliminating sounds like conversations, TV noise, and music.
  • Impact Noise Isolation:
    • Reduces impact noise (e.g., footsteps, dropped objects) by up to 20 dB, making it ideal for multi-storey buildings.
  • Low-Frequency Performance:
    • Excels at isolating low-frequency sounds, such as bass and structural vibrations, which are challenging for most soundproofing systems.

The system’s performance has been rigorously tested and proven to meet and exceed regulatory standards, including Part E of the Building Regulations.

How to Install the GenieClip with Furring Strips

Installing the GenieClip with Furring Strips system is straightforward:

  1. Prepare the Surface:
    • Expose the joists or wall studs and ensure they are clean and level.
  2. Attach the GenieClips:
    • Secure GenieClips to the joists or studs at appropriate intervals.
  3. Install the Furring Strips:
    • Snap the furring strips into place using the GenieClips, ensuring they are level and securely fastened.
  4. Fix the Plasterboard:
    • Attach acoustic plasterboards to the furring strips, leaving a small gap at the edges.
